Profile:Ruth Hazzard is team leader for the Vegetable Program and also coordinates the Integrated Crop and Pest Management Project for vegetables. Current on-farm IPM projects include pepper, tomato, pumpkin and winter squash. Her research has focused on insect and disease management in brassicas, sweet corn, tomato, and peppers. Specifically, she has investigated using microbials and oils for control of caterpillar pests of sweet corn and the TOM-CAST disease forecasting system for early blight in tomato. Currently she is involved with studies on biointensive insect management in brassicas, cucurbits, and sweet corn. She edits the Vegetable Notes newsletter, which is produced weekly during the growing season.

Profile:Rob works with diseases of floricultural and vegetable crops, and plant parasitic nematodes in turf grasses. His current research projects include conventional and biological control of root diseases of floricultural crops, Phytophthora blight of cucurbits, and opulation dynamics and management of nematodes in turf grasses. Rob teaches Diagnostic Plant Pathology, Biological Control, Nematology, and Plant Pathology lab course. He provides a diagnostic service for the greenhouse and vegetable industry, and writes the disease recommendations for the New England Vegetable Management Guide and the New England Greenhouse Floricultural Recommendations.
