The UMass Vegetable Team is dedicated to addressing all aspects of sustainable crop production. Sometimes the information that we disseminate is directed toward growers who are already knowledgeable of many of the basic practices of growing vegetable crops. The fact sheets listed in English are of crops used by both new growers and established growers for ethnic markets. There is a much more comprehensive list of crops at “specific crops”, under the “Soil Crop & Pest Management”. We encourage new growers to browse our site where one can find information on all aspects of sustainable vegetable crop production. Feel free to contact any authors of fact sheets in English. Posters on Management of Key Vegetable Pests - EnglishThese posters are designed for immigrant farmers that speak no or little English. They are illustrative using more pictures that words to deliver the message to them. The poster include pictures of the crops of interest, the pictures of the insect that is damaging to the crops, and the pictures of ways to manage the insect, including the insecticide that might be used and the rates needed for its application. The farmers may need help to use the poster once; after that, they can use it whenever they need information with no help.
